Sutton High Street – just outside Peacocks
We will rededicate the Amnesty International Plaque and the Sutton group’s continued commitment to the promotion of Human Rights.
The Mayor will lead other speakers including Barry Lewis, Leader of the Council, Luke Taylor MP and Councillor Richard Choi.
There will be a stall with information on:

Amnesty International - a global movement which campaigns to end abuses of human rights; and
-
Examples of the local group’s work.
There will be an opportunity for you to make a difference by signing letters on those Prisoners of Conscience our local group is supporting:

Dr Mohammed Al-Roken, a human rights lawyer from the United Arab Emirates,
-
Alaa Abdel Fattah , the British-Egyptian writer and human rights defender currently imprisoned in Cairo, and
-
Chow Hang-tung, a barrister imprisoned in Hong Kong for participating in a peaceful vigil commemorating protesters killed in the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown.
