_What might this look like? _
Some children and young people may have difficulties focusing their attention during tasks which are less motivating for them and respond to adaptations to teaching as well as some pastoral support.

Mentoring and pastoral support for pupils who need more guidance and reinforcement in order to follow school expectations

Reasonable adjustments to accommodate for pupils who struggle to sustain focus and attention in their learning

Relational approaches applied in school focusing on forming connections between staff and pupils to promote trusting and positive interactions. Use of the Building Stronger Foundations[External Link] whole school audit can be used to identify any provision gaps that exist to develop setting development

Neurodiversity promotion in school and neuroaffirming approaches embedded throughout the school

Cognus Therapies

Cognus Therapies runs a SEND champion training which consists of training on universal speech, language and communication needs, occupational therapy and educational psychology advice and support. Sutton schools who have not accessed this training previously can send one delegate for free or pay for additional staff members to attend. If you would like to book on the training, please contact cognus.therapies@cognus.org.uk

- Fishbowl sessions to provide school visits and advice and signposting from special school staff.
Cognus Inclusion Team
- Inclusion Surgeries run every week Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning for any member of school staff to provide information, advice, and guidance to schools to support inclusive practice and the prevention of exclusion.
