Bright Heart is a London-based tuition agency offering award-winning SEN tuition with a nurturing approach.
We focus on helping students with special educational needs, those lacking confidence or motivation and those out of school. Our heart-based approach – the ‘Bright Heart Approach’ – involves meeting the whole person from their unique perspective with warmth to build trust, self-esteem and self-belief, before building on academic abilities. This approach is particular effective for those with SEND.
We carefully match our experienced and trained tutors to students for quality one-to-one private tuition. We also provide online tuition.
We were proudly awarded in October 2020 the nasen Award for 'Co-Production with Children and Young People and their Families', highlighting the effectiveness of our approach. We were finalists in this same award in 2021. In July 2022 we won the prestigious 'Tuition Business of the Year' at the National Tutoring Awards, held by The Tutors' Association. In 2023, we were runners up in this same award, along with Best Tuition Delivery to Private Clients and shortlisted for Best Tuition Delivery to Schools. In 2024 and 2025, we were again runners up for 'Tuition Business of the Year' at the National Tutoring Awards - maintaining an excellent track record. We were also runners up for the 'Alternative Provision Provider' category in 2025. Special Educational Needs:
We cover students from primary to A-level and are specialists in learning challenges.
Special educational needs (SEN) we provide tuition for include, but not limited to:
Our Services
We believe that creating a safe emotional space is best for tutoring and offer the first lesson free to help build rapport. This also allows the student and client to make sure that there is a good fit with the tutor.
Our tutors are screened, interviewed in person and background checked. This includes checking qualifications, taking at least two professional references and checking the tutor has in place a clean and current Enhanced DBS. Tutors are provided guidance on safeguarding practices and agree in writing to adhere to our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy . We work with tutors who have patience, understanding and the necessary experience to ensure that sensitive learning situations are handled with care. Our tutors are provided with an exclusive online training course produced by nasen (National Association of Special Educational Needs). The aim of the nasen course is to ensure that tutors understand the importance of meeting the individual learning needs of all our students.
Our primary subject focus is English, Maths and Science, but we aim to meet client requests across most other subjects. We also offer younger students general tuition support, which may take the form of play therapy. We have a platform available for online tutoring for our clients.
Our Education Consultants, all qualified teachers, oversee provisions and each child has an individual learning plan (ILP). Our Clients
We help students from age 4 to 25, some of whom may have special educational needs, be excluded from school or choose home schooling. Some students just need a boost in self-esteem or motivation and we have found our heart-based approach very effective in this regard. We work with many local authorities across London and also surrounding boroughs. We work with private families and many schools.
"Bright Heart has transformed our child’s life. We never imagined she would re-engage with her education, but she’s flourishing." -SJC London
