What does the Local Authority expect?

There is a clear message in the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice (2015) [External Link] that all teachers are teachers of SEND and that setting leaders must ensure that they have effective systems in place to identify and respond to SEND and improve outcomes for this group.
This guidance sets out the expectations for delivering SEN Support in settings, including the role of other providers in the Local Authority and Health. The guidance is relevant for all children and young people with SEN(D) whether they have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or not. Across Sutton, a number of settings are developing high quality practice in delivering SEN Support and significantly improving outcomes for these children and young people. As this guidance grows, we want to include examples from these schools.
