Supporting your teenager through mental health challenges can feel isolating and overwhelming, especially when waiting for professional help. This 1-hour session equips you with practical strategies to confidently guide your child through this difficult time while awaiting services like CAMHS or counselling.
In this session, you will:
✔ Support your child while waiting for professional help – Learn strategies that allow you to support your teenager’s mental health while waiting for interventions, reducing the strain during a challenging period.
✔ Understand what mental health is – Gain clarity on mental health in teenagers and learn how to recognise key symptoms of stress, anxiety or depression.
✔ Identify early signs of poor mental health – Discover the subtle warning signs of mental health struggles before they escalate into a crisis.
✔ Respond effectively to mental health challenges – Build your confidence in engaging with your child, offering the right support without overwhelming or frustrating them..
This session is for:
➤ Parents and carers who are feeling lost and need practical tools to support their teenager’s mental health while waiting for professional intervention.
➤ Parents of teenagers who do not meet thresholds for formal services, but who still want to provide crucial support.
➤ Parents or carers worried about their child’s mental health and who are unsure about how to respond.
➤ Parents feeling powerless or unsure of how to help their child manage emotional struggles. You will find this session especially helpful if:

Facilitator: Ross Thompson With over 15 years of safeguarding and child protection experience, I lead this session to empower parents with the knowledge and strategies they need to confidently support their teenagers. My approach is practical and compassionate, providing real-world advice on how to help your child while waiting for professional help.
