Benefits, housing, and financial support

The Sutton Council website holds a wealth of information on Benefits and support, including housing benefit information and support around the rising cost of living.

If you are feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to go for support, please contact Together for Sutton. A free, impartial and confidential information and advice service which is run by local organisations and funded by Sutton Council.

There are a range of ways that you can access food support across the borough including community groups and charities to help you with the Cost of Living.

If you are on benefits and you’re more than 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under 4, you may be entitled to get help to buy healthy food and milk.

If you’re eligible, you’ll be sent a Healthy Start card with money on it that you can use in some UK shops.

Support and advice is available on a range of issues around accommodation and housing, including information about the services that are available to help you deal with bad housing, homelessness and issues affecting your ability to live independently.

Moving into emergency or temporary accommodation can be a busy and stressful time. To help with the process, and to ensure that you prioritise the most important tasks when you move, the council has developed a new booklet 'Your guide to temporary accommodation'.
