What is Sutton's New Learning Disability Charter?

Sutton's Learning Disability Charter is a set of rules and wishes people in Sutton have told us they want services and organisations to keep to. All organisations and services who support people with learning disabilities in Sutton will be asked to keep to these rules and wishes.

Why have we developed Sutton's Learning Disability Charter?

Sutton Council, along with stakeholders - including health, voluntary sector, and importantly people with a Learning Disability - have developed the Learning Disability Charter together.

The rules and wishes in the Charter will help us improve the experiences for people with a Learning Disability in Sutton. We will ask services that work with people with a Learning Disability to become Charter Members.

We will get feedback from people with a learning disability to help us make the Charter better over time.

When will the rules and wishes be used?

When Sutton Council pay an organisation, charity or company to provide services to people with a Learning Disability.

When organisations, charities, or companies want to show the council they are able to do the job.

When staff are giving training about including people.

During training, we will use examples of good experiences shared with us from people with a Learning Disability.
