Charter Guidance
Guidance for Organisations wishing to show their commitment to our Charter.
Page last updated
Organisations, in considering the Sutton Learning Disability Charter, will be aware that this has been the product of stakeholders working together, through our learning disability Strategy, on things that matter most to local people and their families.
We have recently met again to think about a question others have asked……
So how might we, as service and business organisations, practically, show our commitment to the Charter….?
Organisations can do this through a number of ways including:
-
People with a Learning disability have helped to shape service planning and delivery - you might want to provide some examples and how this focus is maintained
-
Actively challenging discrimination and having a zero tolerance to harassment - this might be shown in your information, policies and staff training
-
Providing information about services and products in ‘Easy read’ formats - this could be alongside standard information but through ‘easy read’ ensuring that more people can be included, participate and understand what’s available.
-
Offering employment opportunities to people with a learning disability - this might be through internships, apprenticeships, voluntary and paid employment within your service or organisation or through working with others
These can be steps that you can mention in your information about what you do, offer and in updates that may help to promote your service or business.
