Sutton SEND Reform Plan

Page last updated

The government's vision, outlined in the "Every child achieving and thriving" white paper [External link], marks a vital opportunity to strengthen how we support our children and young people with SEND. More information and helpful summaries are available in the DfE Education Hub on the Gov.uk website [External link].

Like other local authorities, Sutton Council is producing a local SEND Reform Plan and we are keen to hear the views of parents and carers to inform this.

The SEND reforms are significant and it is not possible to address every area at once. Initially, we are focussing on five areas:

  • Strengthening mainstream provision

  • Alternative provision, reintegration and outreach

  • Specialist provision and specialist and support bases

  • Preparation for adulthood

  • Early years and "Best Start in Life"

Please complete this survey [External link] by 22 May 2026 to share your views on these areas. If you don't feel able to comment on all of the areas in the survey, please leave them blank.

Thank you for taking the time to share your views and shape SEND support in Sutton.
